اصول کار موتور توربوپراپ

توربوپراپ نوعی موتور توربینی گازی است که در آن از گردش محور توربین برای گرداندن ملخ وایجاد رانش استفاده می‌شود.

با اینکه گاز خروجی این موتورها نوعی جت است ولی در طراحی توربوپراپ سرعت گاز خروجی را فدای قدرت چرخاندن محور می‌کنند تا بیشتر نیروی موتور صرف گرداندن ملخ شود.

موتورهای توربوپراپ در سرعت‌های متوسط (در حدود ۷۳۰ کیلومتر/ساعت) کارآئی دارند و در سرعت‌های بیشتر کارآیی را از دست می‌دهند. این موتورها بیشتر در هواپیماهای مسافری کوچک و هواپیماهای ترابری نظامی به‌کار می‌روند.

英國《衛報》資深編輯 Larry Elliott則有另外一個小女孩和 3隻熊的故事要說,內容講的是Goldilockseconomy 的後半段發展:

話說世上有個大海洋叫做太平洋,分開了許多國家,其中之一叫做中國中國人吃苦耐勞,願意長期工作、支領低薪,製造很多便宜物品。

海峽另一岸有個國家名為美國,美國人曾經也是工作賣力的人,是全球的製造中心,不過近年來看起來好像沒有那麼認真。從數據上看,他們每製造 100美元的東西之後,會去商店消費買進 106美元的物品,而近來,他們總是從中國採買物品進口。

過去幾年以來,這種模式運作得不錯。中國人將他們製作的電視、玩具輸往美國,買進美國的公司股票或政府公債,以償還債務。

美國有個近親,人稱大不列顛或是英國。這個國家的生活型態類似老美,總是花得比生產的多,靠債務來弭平差距。儘管有人警告他們,這種夢幻的生活型態過不長久,不過當美國人和不列顛人清早起床,看到天還是那麼藍,陽光依舊燦爛,也就不以為意了。

這兩個國家的聰明人都覺得,好天氣會一直持續。對中國人來說,則因為能持續製作便宜物品,賺錢進行投資,因此帶來全球物價偏低,而利率也處穩定。

美國人和不列顛人喜歡借錢購屋,使房價居高不下,然後他們發現,自己因此財富又增加了,而通膨及利率仍處低點,他們就再想辦法借錢及賣股票。其中最會使用這類招數的人,以華爾街人和倫敦人最為著名。他們把這種方式稱為「Goldilocks economy」,並愉快的吃著中國的燕麥粥,而且認為可以一直這樣下去。

不過這個時候,小熊回來了,隨身帶著的禮物是劇升的油價及商品價格。仍在夢中的金髮女孩Goldilocks忽略了許多,包括:中國對原物料的嚴重需求,生產工廠耗費大量能源,而原油及金屬上漲,帶動產品價格的提高。2003年,用25美元就可以買進一桶原油,2007年卻必須花上80美元。小熊正是在這時候開始吵著睡夢中的Goldilocks。

然後,熊媽媽也回家了,她關心的是房子。房價一路飆高,使得買房子變得更困難,市價這麼高的主因,一部分就在於利率偏低,又可以很容易地借到錢。美國及英國的中央銀行,開始擔心房價引發通膨,而想著利用升息,避免房價高漲帶來經濟其他部分價格也隨之提高。熊媽媽這時開始對睡夢中的Goldilocks怒吼。

最後,熊爸爸也回來了,並且發現華爾街及倫敦市裡有些黑暗巫師,隨意借出房貸,以維持高房價。而且這些黑暗巫師明明知道這是毒藥,還將它包裝成房貸商品,轉讓給華爾街及倫敦市其他人,並宣稱這是無害、風險低的。

但是,隨著利率上升,房價下跌,貸款者無力負擔債務,投資者虧損大增,所有問題一一浮現。

這時,大家才知道這類黑魔法威力強大,甚至無法估量到底有多少負債。這時,投機的金融家不願意再胡亂借錢,整個市場運作出了大問題。熊爸爸高聲怒吼,這時Goldilocks才終於醒來。

女孩醒來,發現房價及市場一團亂,在美國,房價快速下跌而房貸業務幾乎不再營業,而在英國,一家專門經手房貸的 Northern Rock銀行,發現他們一夜之間由貴族淪落為賤民。

於是,眾人向美國及英國中央銀行哭訴求助,這時軟心腸的美國聯準會主席Ben Bernanke禁不住哀求,打開了他的寶庫,讓市場繼續能取得便宜的金錢。華爾街繼續大開派對,他則是警告:「要確定這樣的事不會再發生」。

英國央行總裁 Mervyn King則持不一樣的觀點,並告誡倫敦市投機者,他先前已警告過這類情況,投機者該自己小心,他關注的是整體經濟的良好。由於King不肯放鬆,Goldilocks已經不能像過去享受著「不冷不熱」的經濟環境

《Goldilocks and the Three Bears》的童話故事,最終並沒有交待故事結局,有人說她逃進森林,找到回家的路,另一些人說,面對 3隻「暴力熊」,小女孩毫無還手的機會。

A turboprop engine is a type of gas turbine engine used in aircraft. Most of a turboprop engine's power is used to drive a propeller, and the propellers used are very similar to the propellers used in piston or reciprocating engine-driven aircraft (with the exception that turboprops usually use a constant velocity propeller).

A turboprop engine is similar to a turbojet, but has additional stages in the turbine to recover more power from the engine to turn the propeller. Turboprop engines are generally used on small or slow subsonic aircraft, but some aircraft outfitted with turboprops have cruising speeds in excess of 500 kts (926 km/h, 575 mph).

In its simplest form, a turboprop consists of an intake, compressor, combustor, turbine and a propelling nozzle. Air is drawn into the intake and compressed by the compressor. Fuel is then added to the compressed air in the combustor. The hot combustion gases expand through the turbine. Part of the power generated by the turbine is used to drive the compressor. The rest goes through the reduction gearing to the propeller. Further expansion of the gases occurs in the propelling nozzle, where the gases exhaust to atmospheric pressure. The propelling nozzle provides a relatively small proportion of the thrust generated by a turboprop, the remainder comes from the conversion of shaft power to thrust in the propeller.

Turboprops are very efficient at modest flight speeds (below 450 mph), because the jet velocity of the propeller (and exhaust) is relatively low. Due to the high price of turboprop engines, they are mostly used where high performance Short-Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capability and efficiency at modest flight speeds is required. In a civilian aviation context, the most common application of turboprop engines are small commuter aircraft.

In a turboprop much of the jet thrust is sacrificed in favor of shaftpower, which is obtained by extracting additional power (to that necessary to drive the compressor) from the turbine expansion process. While the power turbine may be integral with the gas generator section, many turboprops today feature a Free Power Turbine, on a separate coaxial shaft. This enables the propeller to rotate freely, independent of compressor speed. Owing to the additional expansion in the turbine system, the residual energy in the exhaust jet is fairly low. Consequently, the exhaust jet produces (typically) less than 10% of the total thrust, including that from the propeller.

Because the propeller is much larger in diameter than the power turbine, the tip speed of the propeller can become supersonic. To prevent this, a speed reduction gearbox is inserted between the power turbine and propeller shafts. The gearbox is part of the engine, whereas in a turboshaft the (helicopter) rotor reduction gearbox is remote from the engine.

Residual thrust on a turboshaft is avoided by further expansion in the turbine system and/or truncating and turning the exhaust through 180 degrees, to produce two opposing jets. Apart from the above, there is very little difference between a turboprop and a turboshaft.

While most modern turbojet and turbofan engines use axial-flow compressors, turboprop engines, because of their small size, usually contain at least one stage of centrifugal compression. NOTE: it is difficult to manufacture robust blading for the rear stages of small axial-flow compressors.

Propellers lose efficiency as aircraft speed increases, so turboprops are normally not used on high-speed aircraft. However, Propfan engines, which are very similar to turboprop engines, can cruise at flight speeds approaching Mach 0.75. To increase the efficiency of the propellers, a mechanism can be used to alter the pitch, thus adjusting the pitch to the airspeed. The variable pitch propeller, also called controllable pitch propeller can also be used to generate negative thrust while decelerating on the runway. After an engine outage, the pitch can be adjusted to a vaning pitch, thus minimising the drag of the non-functioning propeller.

The world's first Turboprop was the 'Jendrassik Cs-1' designed by the Hungarian mechanical engineer György Jendrassik. It was produced and tested in the Ganz Factory in Budapest between 1939 and 1942. It was planned to fit to the Varga RMI-1 X/H twin-engined reconnaissance bomber designed by László Varga in 1940, but the programme was cancelled. Jendrassik had also designed a small-scale 75 kW turboprop in 1937.

The first British turboprop engine was the Rolls-Royce RB.50 Trent, a converted Derwent II fitted with reduction gear and a Rotol 7 ft 11 inch five-bladed propeller. Two Trents were fitted to Gloster Meteor EE227 — the sole "Trent-Meteor" — which became the first relatively reliable turboprop powered aircraft. From their experience with the Trent, Rolls-Royce developed the Dart, which became one of the most reliable turboprop engines ever built. Dart production continued for more than fifty years.

While the Soviet Union had the technology to create a jet powered strategic bomber comparable to Boeing's B-52 Stratofortress, they instead produced the Tu-95 'Bear', which uses 8 contra-rotating propellers (two per nacelle) with supersonic tip speeds to achieve maximum cruise speeds in excess of 575 mph, faster than many of the first jet aircraft, and comparable to jet cruising speeds for most missions. The Bear would serve as their most successful long range combat and surveillance aircraft and symbol of Soviet power projection throughout the end of the 20th century. The USA would incorporate contra-rotating turboprop engines in two experimental tail-sitting VTOL and fighter aircraft, the Convair XFY Pogo and the Lockheed XFV Salmon, during the 1950s, but none would be adopted into service.

The first American turboprop was the General-Electric T-31. America skipped over turboprop airliners in favor of the Boeing 707, but the technology of the Lockheed Electra would be used in both the long-lived P-3C Orion as well as the classic C-130 Hercules, one of the most successful military aircraft ever, in terms of length of production. One of the most popular turboprop engines is the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 engine.

Turboprop (komb. aus: Turbine u. Propeller) ist eine landläufige Bezeichnung für Propellerturbinentriebwerk (auch als PTL bezeichnet). Flugzeuge mit diesem Triebwerk sind auf Fluggeschwindigkeiten bis zu etwa 80 Prozent der Schallgeschwindigkeit (0,8 Mach etwa 870 km/h) beschränkt. In diesem Geschwindigkeitsbereich arbeiten Turboprops auch wirtschaftlicher als reine Turbinentriebwerke.

Das Turboprop ist eine Gasturbine, die als Wellentriebwerk einen Propeller über ein Getriebe antreibt. Der Schub wird nahezu ausschließlich vom Propeller erzeugt, auf den die erzeugte Energie der Turbine übertragen wird. Um den Schub zu erzeugen, werden vom Propeller sehr große Luftmengen angesaugt und schwach beschleunigt. Diese Art des Triebwerks zeichnet sich durch niedrigen Kraftstoffverbrauch aus, weswegen es vornehmlich bei Transport- und Kurzstreckenflugzeugen, die im unteren Luftraum (bis 20.000 ft/6.500 m) verkehren, eingesetzt wird. In höheren Luftschichten ist der Luftdruck so niedrig, dass Turboprop-Flugzeuge unrentabel sind und deshalb Flugzeuge mit Turbofan-Strahltriebwerken zum Einsatz kommen.

Anders als bei sonst üblichen Propellern werden bei modernen Triebwerken zunehmend Luftschrauben verwendet, die fünf oder oft noch mehr überlappende Schaufelblätter besitzen, die meist sichelförmig und breit sind, ein sehr dünnes Profil aufweisen und teilweise sogar als gegenläufiges Paar auf zwei koaxialen Wellen einer Turbine arbeiten. Dadurch kann derselbe Luftdurchsatz mit geringerer Schaufellänge und/oder niedrigerer Drehzahl erreicht werden. Durch die niedrigere Geschwindigkeit an den Blattspitzen erreicht man einen niedrigen Geräuschpegel. Außerdem kann man nur so die Stromgeschwindigkeiten an den Blattspitzen unter dem Bereich der Schallgeschwindigkeit halten und die damit verbundenen enormen Reibungskräfte minimieren. Bei solchen Triebwerken wird häufig auch von einem "Propfan"-Triebwerk gesprochen, was jedoch falsch ist. Ein Propfan-Triebwerk definiert sich durch das Nebenstromverhältnis, welches beim Turboprop um 100:1 liegt, während es beim Propfan etwas über 20:1 liegt. Propfan-Triebwerke gibt es momentan nicht im Flugbetrieb, sie wurden in den 80er Jahren entwickelt und unterscheiden sich äußerlich meist kaum von einem Turbofan.

Je nach Fluggeschwindigkeit und Flughöhe wird der Anstellwinkel der Propellerblätter meist automatisch eingestellt, um eine optimale Ausnutzung des Drehmoments und der Drehzahl zu erreichen.

Die Energie für den Antrieb der Luftschraube liefert die Gasturbine. Sie saugt Luft ein, die in einem axialen oder radialen mehrstufigen Kompressor verdichtet wird. Anschließend gelangt sie in die Brennkammer, wo sie mit dem Treibstoff verbrennt und sich stark ausdehnt. Die nun energiereiche Luft strömt durch die meist axial aufgebaute und mehrstufige Turbine und wird dabei entspannt. Die auf die Turbine übertragene Energie treibt über eine Welle den Kompressor und über ein Getriebe (Luftschraubengetriebe) die Luftschraube an. Die Abgase werden ausgestoßen.

Gegenüber einem herkömmlichen Antrieb über Kolbenmotoren haben Propellerturbinen den Vorteil eines geringeren Gewichtes bei gleicher Leistung (etwa 0,23 bis 0,27 kg/kW), eine kleinere Stirnfläche und eine höhere Maximalleistung pro Triebwerk. Während jedoch Kolbentriebwerke wie Automotoren direkt "am Gas hängen", also sofort z.B. auf Vollgas reagieren, ist das Turboprop-Triebwerk etwas träger. Es reagiert erst einige Sekunden nach den Steuerbefehlen.

Das größte Flugzeug mit diesem Triebwerkstyp ist die Antonow An-22, deren Kusnezow NK-12MA-Triebwerke mit einer Leistung von je 11.185 kW gleichzeitig die größten je gebauten Turboprops sind. Die kleinsten Serien-Turboprop-Maschinen können auch mit Privatpilotenlizenz geflogen werden und sind Umrüstungen der Cessna 205/206/207 und die Piper PA-46 Malibu Meridian.
